The club has teams in six different leagues running through the summer and has had some notable successes in 2010, especially as the club is a small village club and is often competing against much larger clubs in the Shrewsbury district.
In the Tanners league the club's team in the Tanners reserve league has won promotion from division 4 to division 3, only one year since being promoted from division 5 to division 4.
In the senior citizen's league the club runs 2 teams and the B team have won promotion from division 4 to division 3, where they will join the A team, who finished fourth in league 3, just missing out on promotion themselves. Both the club's senior citizen's teams had notable success in their respective cup competitions. The B team got
to their cup final for the second year running and were losing finalists for the second year running, only losing to the outstanding "Old Shrewsbury" team. The A team went one better by winning their cup competition for the Ron Smout Trophy for the first time in the history of Dorrington Crown Green Bowling Club.
Dorrington Bowling Club
Bowls is a sport suitable for people from 10 years of age. Established in 1996, the club plys on a beautifully situated green in the heart of the village with wonderful views over the South Shropshire hills.
we are a very friendly club who enjoy the opportunity to socialise as well as bowling.
We welcome people who have never played bowls, but would like to try, for whom free lessons will be provided. The only equipment you need to start bowling is soft soled shoes that will not damage the green, we can supply everything else.
If you would like to know more about crown green bowling please telephone Peter Smith (719294) who will be pleased to arrange a visit to the green so that you can learn something about the game and the facilities we offer.
Although the green is in Dorrington we welcome players from the surrounding area as the nearest alternative green is in Church Stretton or Bayston Hill.
If you decide to join us annual membership costs £30, £25 for over 65's and £5 for juniors
